How to get better Gas Mileage

gasmileageSummer is generally regarded as the big driving season, as families hit the road for small or large vacation trips between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  In order to help conserve fuel and money, GasBuddy offers a free smartphone app, which has been downloaded more than 25 million times to help motorists find the lowest gasoline prices in their area. In addition to the app, you can save money by improving your gas mileage with a few easy tips and techniques. Happy Veterans Day

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Veterans Day! Today, is not merely a day of shopping sales and time off. It’s a day of remembrance and  honors for the people who have served our country. Did you know that Veterans Day coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. It is important to take some time out of your busy schedule today in order to honor those who served our nation in uniform. Below is a short video demonstrating the transformation of a homeless Veteran. It reiterates the importance of generosity and kindness and also how much each of us can make a difference. Will you make a difference this Veterans Day?

June is National Safety Month

Happy month of June everyone! The official start of summer, June 21, 2013, is right around the corner. Did you know that June is actually National Safety Month? The National Safety Council (www.nsc.org) is offering a ton of great safety tips including safety in the workplace, safety at home, and safety on the road. With summer right around the corner people will begin traveling even more. Therefore, I wanted to share some important driver safety tips to keep in mind. For more Safety information visit The National Safety Council official website, www.nsc.org

  • Avoid driving when you’re tired. Be aware that some medications can cause drowsiness and make operating a vehicle very dangerous.
  • Always use caution when changing lanes. Cutting in front of someone, changing lanes too fast or not using your signals may cause an accident or upset other drivers.
  • Check the weather. It’s best to stay off the roads if there is a threat of flooding, snow, ice or heavy thunderstorms.
  • Stay focused on driving. Is the radio too loud? Passengers too rowdy? Are you also trying to eat or apply makeup? Be sure to take care of these things before beginning your journey.
  • Keep your distance. Refrain from tailgating – staying back a few feet could protect in an accident. If someone is tailgating you, let them pass.
  • You should never use a cell phone while driving. It can be very distracting and is a leading cause of accidents in the United States.

Monday is Memorial Day and while everyone is at the beach or having a BBQ with family and friends it is important to remember that Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have passed away while serving us in the military. We here and Kimberley Vassal Insurance would like to commemorate all the U.S. men and women who have died while serving in the military. We would also like to thank all of the current soldiers for protecting our country.
