The Great Pumpkin Carve will be taking place this week in Chadds Ford, PA! The event will take place on Thursday, October 24th and continue through Saturday, October 26th. At the three day annual event over 60 giant pumpkins will be on display, all carved by local artists. The pumpkins will be lit after the carving is completed and then displayed all three nights. Treat yourself to great food, live music, hayrides and a chance to win a raffle item. The fun begins this Thursday from 5pm to 9pm on the grounds of the Society’s Barn Visitors Center. Admission is $10.00 for adults 18 and older, $5.00 for ages 7 to 17; Ages 6 and under are free! Also, Chadds Ford Historical Society members are free with membership card. The 2013 Kennett Brewfest is happening this weekend, October 5, 2013. The event is a beer tasting extravaganza with live music and good company. Come sample beers from local and regional microbreweries! Along with the great-tasting beer there will be food and live music. Ticket sold online in advance only. Unfortunately, all tickets are sold out.
However, those who purchased tickets in advance will have access to food & merchandise vendors, live bands, sponsor tables, and more during the entire event. Doors open at 12:00 noon for the Connoisseur Tasting and the regular fest begins at 2:00 pm. All taps will close at 6:00 pm. Your ticket will be scanned at the entrance, where you will receive your tasting cup. Every attempt will be made to make admissions move as quickly and smoothly as possible.
No one without a ticket and proper photo identification will be allowed to enter.
No one under the age of 21 will be admitted.
Tickets are transferable; however tickets are non-refundable.

The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC) has something for everyone at this years Hootenanny Hoedown happening September 28, 2013 at Plantation Field located north of Unionville on Rt. 82. The day begins with a 5K Trail Run for Conservation. Registration is at 7:30 with 9:00 a.m. race start—online and day of registration are available. The 5K is a moderately hilly course well suited for the cross country runner, from beginner to seasoned athlete. It’s a great opportunity to check out a unique 5K course on a beautiful stretch of private property in the heart of horse country.
The festivities culminate with an evening at the Hootenanny Hoedown Wild West Saloon. Saloon doors swing open at 6:00 p.m. Come dressed as your favorite outlaw for an evening of great BBQ style food, live music by “The Coyotes” (Eclectic American Roots), and table games amidst the backdrop of Chester County’s bucolic countryside under a beautiful night sky. Ticket price includes food, beverages, and gaming chips. There will also be music for those who would rather dance than game the night away. New this year the Wild West Saloon will offer 50/50 Chicken Bingo and a silent auction with wonderful items.

The 2013 Brandywine Folk Festival will be taking place August 23th-25th at Anson B. Nixon Park in Kennett Square! The event will feature over 30 national and international acts, dozens of vendors, beer-gardens, and games/activities for kids.
