3rd Annual Taste of Chester County

88th Annual Unionville Community Fair

The 88th Annual Unionville Community Fair will be taking place this weekend. The Fair showcases the largest display of community and agricultural products in Chester County. It will take place on the grounds behind Landhope Farms at the intersection of Routes 82 & 926 in Kennett Square, PA. Come by and see the more than 3,000 contest exhibits submitted by community residents, enjoy delicious treats from a variety of food vendors, listen to live music on the outdoor stage, become a “Farmer For a Day”, laugh through the Lip Sync and Look Like Your Pet Contests, experience the grandeur of a First Rate Horse Show Sunday at 10:00am, and enjoy many other family friendly events and exhibits like a travelling petting zoo and pumpkin stacking contests! The 73rd Annual Chester County Hospital House Tour is coming up on October 5, 2013, and Fig West Chester is currently giving away two tickets to the event! Enjoy a fascinating glimpse into the architecture, artistry, and antiques of Chester County’s iconic homes. The 2013 Chester County Restaurant Festival

Mark your calendars, The Brandywine Valley’s biggest food festival is set for September 15, 2013!  The event has now expanded to Market Street and will be taking place from noon to 5:00pm, in Downtown West Chester. Over 60 restaurants and food vendors plus 120 crafters and information booths will be taking part in this years festivities. Seven Bands will perform on three stage areas. Relax at the beer and wine garden on North Church Street and watch the Chester County Culinary Cook-Off competition on the historic Chester County Courthouse steps. 2013 Hootenanny Hoedown

Hoot-Logo-for-Website-980x558The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC) has something for everyone at this years Hootenanny Hoedown happening September 28, 2013 at Plantation Field located north of Unionville on Rt. 82. The day begins with a 5K Trail Run for Conservation. Registration is at 7:30 with 9:00 a.m. race start—online and day of registration are available. The 5K is a moderately hilly course well suited for the cross country runner, from beginner to seasoned athlete. It’s a great opportunity to check out a unique 5K course on a beautiful stretch of private property in the heart of horse country.

The festivities culminate with an evening at the Hootenanny Hoedown Wild West Saloon. Saloon doors swing open at 6:00 p.m. Come dressed as your favorite outlaw for an evening of great BBQ style food, live music by “The Coyotes” (Eclectic American Roots), and table games amidst the backdrop of Chester County’s bucolic countryside under a beautiful night sky. Ticket price includes food, beverages, and gaming chips. There will also be music for those who would rather dance than game the night away. New this year the Wild West Saloon will offer 50/50 Chicken Bingo and a silent auction with wonderful items.

Flash Flood Warning for Chester County

The NOAA has issued a flash flood warning for Delaware, Montgomery and parts of Chester County; The warning expires at 2:30 p.m.

Another flash-flood warning for Philadelphia, southern Delaware County and southeastern Montgomery County expires at 3:45 p.m. Residents are advised to stay away from flood waters, as “even a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away a vehicle,” according to the service. As many as two inches of rainfall are estimated to already be accumulating in the area, with four inches possible before the end of the day. It’s important to stay safe and use precaution especially if you plan on traveling.
