The 2011 World Series gets underway on Wednesday evening when the Texas Rangers take on the St. Louis Cardinalsin Game 1 of the seven-game series. The pitching matchup, for Game 1, seems to be key. C.J. Wilson will take the mound for the Rangers and Chris Carpenter will start for the Cardinals as the two battle to determine which team will take an early advantage in the annual Fall Classic. Wilson hasn’t exactly had a postseason to remember, as those reading this are aware, but helping his team to victory in the opening game of the World Series could do quite a bit to change that — unless the bullpens become a factor early, of course.
To find out if Wilson and Carpenter will take turns fanning the opposing hitters, however, everyone is going to have to tune into FOX on Wednesday night. Coverage of the game begins at 7:30 ET with the opening pitch scheduled to be thrown at 8:05. Check out the full World Series schedule!
