Two of the biggest events took place this past weekend. The first was the Daytona 500 which took place in Daytona Beach. Trevor Bayne, who turned 20 on Saturday, held off veteran Carl Edwards in a green-white-checkered overtime finish to become the youngest winner in Daytona 500 history. Also taking place was the NBA All-Star Weekend which was held in L.A. this year. The weekend started off with the celebrity game Friday night in which Justin Bieber took home the MVP. Saturday was the skills challenge, the three point contest and the dunk competition. The home town favorite Blake Griffin put on one heck of a show, which included dunking over a car! Then to finish off the weekend, the East and West All-Stars put on a show during a very good All-Star game last night. The West eventually won the game, but the East had a late run led by a triple-double from LeBron James. James finished the game with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to join Michael Jordan as the only players with a triple-double in the All-Star game. However the home town hero, Kobe Bryant, took home the MVP award finishing with 37 points and tying a record with his fourth MVP award in the Western Conference’s 148-143 victory over the East.
