Texting While Driving, A Costly Distraction

We all know the distractions that can occur while behind the wheel of a vehicle. The federal government estimates that 30 percent of all crashes in the United States involve driver distraction. Texting while driving is a very new but common distraction among teens and adults. Studies show that Texting while driving impairs the driver’s abilities. In a recent study by Car and Driver, it showed that texting while driving is actually more dangerous than driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, although both are very dangerous and unacceptable. So the next time you’re tempted to text, e-mail, or otherwise type while driving, either ignore the urge or pull over. Please keep yourself and others safe by not texting while driving.
